Dear All Major Chain Stores in South Africa ( including Woolworths, Truworths, Stuttafords, Foshini, etc)

Has anyone at your store taken the time to work out how much your company is spending on advertising,  promotions, marketing, sales or putting new stock up in stores daily? Did that figure just boggle your mind? It did? Well if that is the case, please can I ask, why do you insist on having websites that are far from comprehensive? What does it take for a store making millions of rands in sales daily to have a website that features every product currently on sale at your store?

I’d probably shop with your stores more often if I could find what I wanted online in minutes as the whim occurs. I mean I trust the brand already so what’s stopping me from purchasing online? Well there needs to be stock if I am going to buy it. Stores could in all likelihood double or triple sales by hiring 1 or 2 people to upload and maintain your online stores in the same way that you maintain your retail stores which I find a lot more of a hassle to get to. It’ll certainly cost very little to employ data capturers to assist with this. As products come in, for the love of fashion please employ a few people too simply add the details, a photo or 3 and the price of the product to your online store. Perhaps a have your website fully integrated into your stock system and nationalise your systems so that as products are scanned, product availability is tracked and automatically updated, thereby taking care of the logistics of such a scheme. Wouldn’t that be something?

Use it, don’t use it, if you do ‘use it’ though please let me know so I can start shopping online in the same manner that I’d love to shop off websites like ASOS.com but don’t due to the ridiculous fees of importing massive amounts of clothing. Just saying…
